A Brief History of Blythe Barracudas Swimming Club
We
started taking part in low level local competition in 2006 and joined
the Nuneaton Junior League in 2008. During our first season competing
at league level we were successful in reaching the finals of Division
Three which were held at Wolverhampton in September 2008. This is a
major achievement for the club and we are justifiably proud of our
swimmers.
Blythe Barracudas Swimming Club was formed in 2005 and
was the first in the borough of Solihull for many years to be granted
affiliation to the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) and join
the ranks of some 1600 affiliated clubs across the country. The club
has over a hundred members and is proud of the friendly welcoming
atmosphere it successfully promotes.
The Club Today
We are keen to develop young swimmers in our teaching groups and instruct them on all four competitive strokes with emphasis on good technique. We offer a structured pathway to our competitive coaching squads.
Our competitive squads are coached by an enthusiastic team and offer the ideal opportunity for progression to young swimmers who have natural talent and the desire to compete. We have a flexible approach which allows those members who have other interests/sports to train alongside the more committed swimmers and still benefit from structured training sessions.
Parents have an important role within the club. We are run by a management committee made up of willing volunteers and anyone interested in helping in any capacity whatsoever is very welcome. It takes a lot of time and effort to keep the club running smoothly and we are always looking for support. If you would like more involvement in your children's sport please let us know. Any assistance, however small your contribution, is appreciated. You do not need qualifications, just energy and enthusiasm!! However, if you are interested in gaining related qualifications, please talk to us.
